Cookie policy

The short version
What we store on your device
The law that governs cookies, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, applies to anything a website stores on or reads from your device, not only to cookies. So this table includes the item kept in your browser’s local storage as well as the cookies.
| Name | Set by | Type | Purpose | How long it lasts | Needs your consent? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
lxa-consent-v1 |
This website | Local storage in your browser | Remembers whether you chose Accept or Reject, so the banner does not reappear on every page | No expiry is set; it stays until you clear this site’s data in your browser | No: strictly necessary |
_ga |
Google Analytics, on this website’s domain | Cookie | Distinguishes one browser from another, so that visits can be counted | 2 years | Yes: set only if you accept |
_ga_<ID> |
Google Analytics, on this website’s domain | Cookie | Keeps track of the current visit (session) | 2 years | Yes: set only if you accept |
In _ga_<ID>, the <ID> stands for the identifier of our Google Analytics property. Google may extend the two-year period each time you return to the site.
Strictly necessary: your cookie choice
When you answer the banner, the site saves your answer in your browser’s local storage under the name lxa-consent-v1. It holds only that answer. It stays on your device, is not sent to us or anyone else, and does not identify you.
The regulations allow storage that is strictly necessary for a service you have asked for without consent, and the ICO’s guidance confirms that storage which remembers a visitor’s cookie choice can fall within that exception. Without it, the banner would have to ask you again on every page, and a Reject could not be honoured.
Analytics: only if you accept
If you choose Accept, the site loads Google Tag Manager, which loads Google Analytics 4. Google Analytics then sets the two cookies in the table above.
We use the results to see which pages are read, how people find the site and what kind of devices they use, so that we can improve it. The reports are aggregated: they do not tell us who you are. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising. Google explains how it handles this data in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services, and our privacy policy explains how long the data is kept.
If you choose Reject, or ignore the banner, neither Google Tag Manager nor Google Analytics loads. Your browser makes no request to Google from this site, no Google cookie is set, and nothing is sent to Google in the background.
What this site does not use
- No advertising or remarketing cookies, and no Meta Pixel.
- No CAPTCHA. The contact and referral forms set no cookies; they keep out spam with a hidden field and a timing check.
- No embedded third-party forms or chat widgets.
- No font services: the site’s fonts are served from our own domain, so no request goes to Google Fonts.
The WhatsApp buttons are links that open WhatsApp, a Meta service. Once you leave this site for WhatsApp, WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy apply to what happens there.
Security checks by our hosting provider
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. If Cloudflare needs to check that traffic is coming from a person rather than an automated program, it can set a short-lived security cookie of its own, such as __cf_bm (which expires after 30 minutes of inactivity) or cf_clearance (set after a security check is passed). These are strictly necessary to protect the site, are used for nothing else, and do not need consent.
Changing your mind
You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the foot of every page. It reopens the banner so you can choose again.
If you switch from Accept to Reject, Google Analytics stops loading from the next page you open. Cookies it has already set may stay in your browser until they expire or you delete them, but this site no longer uses or updates them. You can delete them through your browser’s settings for linxaccounting.com.
You can also block or delete cookies for any site through your browser’s settings. If you block local storage, the site cannot remember your choice and will show the banner again.
